    Somersham Youth Club new logo October 2024“BE KIND TO ALL KIND” is the motto of our vibrant club, much-loved by village & local school-aged children: 5-16 year-olds. We meet at the Community Pavilion on the Playing Field every Thursday throughout spring, summer and autumn, 6-8pm.
    Are you new to the area? Please contact Sarah to find out more or pop along on a Thursday evening - new Youth Clubbers are very welcome!!!

  • MID SUFFOLK Waste Collection - New Schedule - June to November 2026

     MSDC Bin lorry “To Binfinity and Beyond” cropStarting from the week beginning 1st June 2026, households will have more opportunities to recycle as part of nationwide changes to waste collections. Further details on the NEWS & INFORMATION menu tab above.
    These changes include:
    :: a new weekly food waste collection service - allowing residents to dispose of unusable and expired food items
    :: extra items will be accepted in the recycling collection - including glass, cartons, and plastic bags, wrappings and films
    :: a separate collection for paper and card
    :: a new three-weekly collection schedule

    The Duke of Marlborough is a 15th century community-owned village pub near Ipswich, in the pretty village of Somersham. Managed by husband and wife, Claire and Matt, who invite you to enjoy their warm welcome and the friendly atmosphere created by the wonderful team of staff and volunteers!

    Tiger mug Community ShopOur small café is very welcoming, please stop by for a chat or drop in to warm-up (or cool down…..don’t forget, we have air-conditioning!) after a walk around the village and along our beautiful local footpaths! If you’re working from home, stretch your legs and pick up something nice for your lunch from our Community Shop. Or maybe your dog needs a walk….but you need a hot (or cold!!) drink!
    Meet Up Mondays – 2pm, every Monday (except bank holidays) - an opportunity to meet up and catch up, with hot drinks and biscuits.
    PLUS on specified Mondays, in partnership with the Rural Coffee Caravan, which provides great company and delicious free refreshments - with lots of information & advice on offer.

  • Junior Tennis Coaching, Somersham Tennis Club

    Junior Tennis CoachingJunior Tennis coaching re-started on 13th April, on Monday evenings - THERE ARE TWO PLACES LEFT IN EACH AGE GROUP - please call 07876 224171 or email: somersham.tennis@gmail.com to book.
    5pm - age group 4-8 years | 5:45pm - age group 8+
    Limited places left - £3 per child per session each Monday, starting after Easter, weather depending.
    The courts are free for all to use for tennis at other times, no booking is required. If you’d like to make a donation, please use the QR code on the court gate.
    Our community Lottery keeps the courts available to local people.
    We welcome new Lottery players | each player also helps to support Junior Tennis, lessons for children and teenagers aged up to 16 - where local youngsters learn to play, and are taught new skills to help improve their game.

  • Somersham Village Hall | ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

    Monday 22nd June 2026 7:00pm

    VILLAGE HALL 4966ALL ARE WELCOME! Our village Hall is fully accessible, including accessible toilets. There’s plenty of parking as well. Come along to find out more about the past year, as well as the year ahead.
    Martial Arts classes, adult tap dancing, Somersham WI, bingo nights, ladies’ badminton, local and general elections, Somersham Parish Council meetings, the seasonal St. Mary’s Church fundraising ‘Christmas Bazaar’ and the annual Somersham & District Gardening Club’s ‘Plant Sale’ are all held at our Village Hall. 
    Friends of Somersham School (FOSS) also regularly hire Somersham Village Hall for their successful fundraising events and performances.
    The local Baby & Toddler Group meets at the Village Hall during school term time.

    Our village hall is a charitable community facility that is available to the public in a particular area for community-related recreational activities. The village hall is run by a management committee.

  • Somersham Open Darts Tournament & Raffle - 27th June

    Saturday 27th June 2026 12:00pm

    Darts Tournament finalists 2025Over the years, this fabulous darts tournament has raised thousands of pounds for S&DCA WHEELIE FUN DAY, the annual Somersham village fête (held on Saturday 4th July) - featuring live music, a car show, market stalls, food, swing grill, drink, bars, cycle speedway, skateboarding, Suffolk Punch horses, birds of prey, and family entertainment.
    The first Tournament dart games start at 1pm on Saturday 27th June, and the Tournament should finish by 8pm. The Duke of Marlborough opens at midday.
    :: The Tournament is sponsored by AMBIT - https://ambitcatering.com/
    All the places for competing darts players are now taken, remember to book yourself in early for the 2027 Tournament!!
    :: Our current Champion is Nathan Fillbrook, captain of The Dukes of Hazzard - one of the teams based at the Duke of Marlborough.
    Loads of players enter the Somersham Open Darts Tournament each year (female, male, all ages) and if you’re not entered for the Tournament - it's still a great day out at the Duke, full of fun and Darts-drama!
    Meet up with friends and family...as well as friends you haven't made yet!
    .......and there's also a Raffle with loads of brilliant prizes, don't forget to buy your tickets!
    :: The Darts Tournament Raffle will be drawn at circa 5pm, at The Duke.
    :: Food will be provided by Belle’s Kitchen, serving a tasty array of dishes from their Food Truck! - 1pm to 6pm.
