  • Somersham Tennis Club Lottery

    Friday 17th April - Saturday 25th April, 2026

    Tennis Lottery posterIt’s £1.00 per month to enter the Somersham Tennis Club Lottery, with 50% of the proceeds as prize money, and 50% towards the upkeep of the tennis courts. 
    The courts are free for all to use for tennis, no booking is required. If you’d like to make a donation, please use the QR code on the court gate. Our community Lottery keeps the courts available to local people.
    We welcome new Lottery players | each player also helps to support Junior Tennis, lessons for children and teenagers aged up to 16 - where local youngsters learn to play, and are taught new skills to help improve their game.
    Junior Tennis coaching will re-start on 13th April, on Monday evenings - thank you!
    5pm - age group 4-8 years | 5:45pm - age group 8+
    Limited places left - £3 per child per session each Monday, starting after Easter, weather depending.

    Monday 20th April - Saturday 25th April, 2026 10:00am — 2:30pm

    Community Shop CaféOur small café is very welcoming, please stop by for a chat or drop in to warm-up after a walk around the village and along our beautiful local footpaths! If you’re working from home, stretch your legs and pick up something nice for your lunch from our Community Shop. Or maybe your dog needs a walk….but you need a hot drink!
    Meet Up Mondays – 2pm, every Monday (except bank holidays) - an opportunity to meet up and catch up, with hot drinks and biscuits. PLUS on specified Mondays, in partnership with the Rural Coffee Caravan, which provides great company and delicious free refreshments - with lots of information & advice on offer.   • Rural Coffee Caravan joins ‘Somersham Meet Up Monday’

    Rural Coffee CaravanMeet Up Mondays – 2pm, every Monday (except bank holidays) - an opportunity to meet up and catch up, with hot drinks and biscuits. PLUS on specified Mondays, in partnership with the Rural Coffee Caravan, which provides great company and delicious free refreshments - with lots of information & advice on offer. NEXT RURAL COFFEE CARAVAN VISIT: Monday, 20th April.
    The Rural Coffee Caravan has information on local and national agencies, organisations, activities and support services. If there’s something on your mind then chat with the RCC team. If you’ve questions about what’s available locally for you, they’ll help you find the answers.

  • Duke Acoustic Night, hosted by Jess Simmons - Suffolk-based singer-songwriter

    Acoustic Night at the Duke of Marlborough Welcome to our April acoustic nights!! Bring your favourite instrument and join in. Performed in and around the table, buskers format. All musicians and singers welcome. Very many talented people turn up, and enjoy a lovely atmosphere, like buskers’ evenings of old. 
    Lovely to see so many happy people enjoying themselves and the ambience of our lovely, dear community-owned pub!
    There’s a warm welcome waiting for accordions, banjos, double basses, fiddles, guitars, harmonicas, percussion, ukuleles, and a plethora of other instruments - not to mention plenty of a cappella and other singing. Everyone, from beginners to experienced musicians and singers, is welcome! ……it’s amazing to think that there’s probably been music and singing in our village pub for over 500 years!

  • May Day Bank Holiday in Somersham!

    May Day Bleeding Heart cropThere are lots of traditions and superstitions associated with May Day – from waking up before dawn and going outside to wash your face in the dew, to gathering flowers and creating garlands for friends to wear. This tradition was known as ‘Bringing in the May’ and often, people would give their garlands or ‘May Baskets’ of flowers to someone who needed cheering up.
    This year, May Day Bank Holiday will be celebrated with events and activities in Somersham - be on the look-out for news and updates!

    Dancing and music, flowers and foliage are central to May Day celebrations!
