Suffolk County Council has now made a formal response to this large development and has has issued a holding objection. The intended development is planned to run from Great Blakenham up to Baylham; running parallel to Little Blakenham and Nettlestead.

Suffolk County Council’s written response includes: “The applicant has not engaged in pre-application advice with the Local Highway Authority or agreed any scoping criteria…….”

Statement on Port One Logistics Park Expansion Proposal — Cllr Chris Chambers is the Suffolk County Councillor for GIPPING VALLEY. On this link to his website, at the foot of the page, is a direct link to the SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL response to the Port One Logistics Park planning application.

“Suffolk County Council, acting in its role as Highway Authority, has issued a holding objection to the proposed expansion of Port One Logistics Park in Great Blakenham.

This means the application cannot currently be supported due to significant concerns that must be addressed by the developer before it can progress. These include shortcomings in the Transport Assessment, insufficient evidence on traffic impact and highway safety, and a lack of robust proposals to support sustainable travel such as walking, cycling and public transport.

Of particular importance are the potential impacts on local roads, the routing of HGV traffic, and the need to ensure safe and suitable access for all users. This includes residents of Great Blakenham, Claydon and neighbouring communities. The County Council has also been clear that stronger commitments are required to improve active travel links, public rights of way and employee travel planning.”
